Hawthorne and Co. CPAs was founded on the principle of providing the distinctly personal attention, recognition, and respect our clients deserve. Our history still guides the way we do business today.

1962

After over a decade of experience in accounting, on February 1, 1962, H. Douglas Hawthorne started an accounting practice in the Skinner Building in downtown Seattle. Approximately three years later, the firm moved its offices to Burien.

1976

Richard Geraghty joined the practice in 1976 and became a member of the firm on January 1, 1979. In 1980, they moved their offices to a new location and have since experienced continued growth.

1981

David D. Hawthorne, Doug’s son, joined the practice on a permanent basis in 1981 and became a member of the firm on January 1, 1987.

1991

On January 1, 1991, Dave Hawthorne acquired full ownership of the firm, with Doug Hawthorne beginning a period of semi-retirement.

2000

In November of 2000, Doug Hawthorne (1924-2011) retired from the practice after 51 years as a CPA.

2019

On October 31, 2019, Hawthorne & Co. CPAs moved to a new office in Burien after nearly 40 years of growth at the former location.
